A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain given that the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every subdomain could have its own website and records and can even be hosted with a different provider if you need to use a certain feature that's not provided by your current service provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a company site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can buy your products. In addition, you can have a forum in which they can talk about the products and by using subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you'll avoid any risk of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping the sites separated is also more secure in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Web Hosting

Each cloud web hosting plan which we provide will allow you to create numerous subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks inside your hosting CP. They will all be listed in the section in which you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so you can very easily keep an eye on all of them. Furthermore, you can access a lot of functions for any one of the subdomains through right-click context menus - as an example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the website files, and much more. While setting up a new subdomain, you will also have a number of options that you can select from - define the default access folder, create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or choose if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. How many subdomains you are going to have is entirely up to you as we have not restricted this feature for any of our packages.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

You can create as many subdomains as you would like with any of our semi-dedicated servers because we have not set an upper limit for this feature. The Hepsia web hosting CP allows you to add a new subdomain with a few clicks and you are going to be able to access a variety of advanced features during the process - change the default access folder, select the IP address the subdomain will use from the shared and dedicated ones that are available in your account, activate FrontPage Extensions, add an SSL certificate, and more. Even if you set up a large number of subdomains, you will be able to keep track of all of them with ease since they are going to be listed in alphabetical order under their main domain. For any one of them, you are able to access the site files or check out logs and usage stats using quick access buttons.
